The Batman’s Trailer Gives Fans High Hopes and a Worthy Long Wait

The Batman by Matt Reeves is one of the most anticipated DC movies ever, perhaps even more than Joker (2019) with a protagonist that is a favorite for many. Today we got a first look at Pattinson’s take on the Dark Knight.

Surprisingly, the so called “teaser” is longer than two minutes, and shows more than what some trailers do. Even though the production on the film was shut down due to the pandemic, the footage Reeves brought to DC’s FanDome virtual convention makes any real fan giddy. Perhaps Pattinson does have what it takes to be the caped crusader after all. As always, crime is running high in the streets of Gotham. The story takes place two years after Bruce Wayne puts on the cape, but suit is not there yet. Batman in this movie is climbing the ropes of a vigilante to become the true Batman that we have known and loved.

The trailer introduces some favorite characters, including Jeffrey Wright’s James Gordon and Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman. The director has mentioned that most of the characters in the movie are becoming what they are meant to become; Catwoman is not yet Catwoman, and so on. In 2021’s The Batman we will also get to see how The Riddler and The Penguin rise to power.

The trailer has also revealed that this time around, Bruce Wayne will be a darker persona than the playboy we have known Christian Bale or Ben Affleck to be. Reeves also has also noted that, even though the movie is not an origin story it does touch upon the “becoming of” story.

The film was supposed to hit on June 21st, 2021, but because of the pandemic, The Batman has been pushed to October 1st, 2021. The delay does make the wait more anticipating for any Batman fan, but the more we are shown the more we believe it will be a worthy wait.
