The Gucci family has issues with their portrayal in movie

The heirs of fashion house Gucci have issued a statement regarding the family’s portrayal in the movie House of Gucci.

The fashion piece of cinema centers around Patrizia Reggiani, an Italian aristocrat portrayed by Lady Gaga. After marrying fashion royalty, Patrizia was sentenced to 29 years in prison for contracting the murder of her husband and heir to the Gucci empire, Maurizio.

The family has big issues with the depiction of Patrizia, a woman convicted for ordering the murder of Maurizio Gucci, portraid as a victim.

The family criticizes “the generousity and considerate tone towards a woman who was convicted for instigating a murder is not only in the film, but also in statements by the cast. She is presented as a victim trying to sruvive a male chauvinist corporate culture”.

The heirs have also stated “Gucci was an inclusive company” adding that there were several women who occupied top positions in the company at the time the movie was set in.

“The family has every right to to protect their name and image, and those of their loved ones” reads the letter signed by Gucci’s heirs. It is also stated that in the movie members of the Gucci family were portrayed as “hooligans”.

Lagy Gaga opened up in the December Issue of Vogue on how she prepared for the role of Patrizia Reggiani.

“I lived as her for a year and a half. And I spoke with an accent for nine months. Off camera, I never broke. I stayed with her. It was nearly impossible for me to speak in the accent as a blonde. I instantly had to dye my hair, and I started to live in a way whereby anything that I looked at, anything that I touched, I started to take notice of where and when I could see money.”
